It seems their families escaped Laos, making the dangerous trek across the Mekong River to refugee camps in Thailand. They later found themselves in the United States. Her father was partially paralyzed due to an accident in August 2019. Her father has 10 siblings, all living in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Her huge family, however, fell victim to the pandemic. Apparently, her aunt and uncle died in the summer due to COVID.
