Arthur Paul “Art” Alexakis (born April 12, 1962) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and composer of the rock band Everclear. He is descended from Greek ancestors. As a member of many famous bands, in addition to his own work as a composer for other musicians, he has achieved considerable success. Over the course of his career, Alexakis has established a number of record companies and has worked as an A&R representative for major record labels in between and during the course of his own musical endeavours. As a political activist later in life, he advocated on behalf of a variety of issues, including drug awareness regulations and assistance for military families. He played for troops stationed in Cuba with the band Everclear, which he co-founded. Alexakis’s political engagement continued to grow, and he campaigned for former presidential candidate John Kerry in his quest for the post of President of the United States of America in 2008.
